October 7-9, 2015 in the Institute for Scintillation materials (ISMA) NAS Ukraine (Kharkov) the IV Scientific Conference of Young scientists «Fluorescent processes in Condensed Matter LUMCOS-2015» was held.
Co-organizers of the event were NAS of Ukraine, Council of Young scientists of this institute and Representation of the Polish Academy Science in Kiev. In particular, the director of Delegation of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kiev Professor Henryk Sobchuk emphasized the presence of a significant potential of collaboration between Ukrainian and Polish researchers. The conference brought together more than 50 young scientists and guest lecturers (top specialists of ISMA NAS of Ukraine, VN Karazin Kharkiv National University and Gdańsk University) fromUkraine, Israel, Poland, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Oral and poster presentations of participants of the scientific forum were devoted to topical research problems of fluorescent processes in condensed matter, creation of fluorescent materials, investigation of their physical and chemical properties and application in modern science and technology.
The conference program of «LUMCOS—2015» event also included Annual School for Young Scientists «Scintillation processes and materials for registration of ionizing radiation».
Particular attention of participants attracted the report of famous contemporary art critic and teacher of the National Academy of Arts and Architecture (Kyiv), PhD Olga Balashova on the theme: «Science and Art: cooperation on mutually beneficial conditions».
